Mahesh Babu (born Mahesh Ghattamaneni on 9 August 1975) is an Indian film actor known for his work in Telugu cinema. Born to actor Krishna in the Ghattamaneni family, Mahesh Babu faced the camera at the age of four as a child artist in 1979's ''Needa''. ''Nandi Awards''. The film collected a share of 10.51 crores.
In 2001 he starred in ''Murari'' a Telugu supernatural thriller film, for which he received the best actor jury at the ''Nandi Awards''. The film collected a gross of 36 crores at the Box office. In 2002 he starred in ''Takkari Donga'' for this film he received the best actor jury at ''Nandi Awards''. In 2003 he starred in the movie ''Nijam'' for which he received the best actor jury at the ''Nandi Awards''.
He played a young Kabaddi player in the 2003 film ''Okkadu'', one of the biggest Telugu grossers of the time. The film was subsequently remade into various Indian languages. He received his first ''Filmfare'' award for this film. The film collected a share of 25-30 crores at the ''boxoffice''. In 2003 he starred in the movie ''Nijam'' for this movie he received best actor at ''Nandi Awards''. He received international recognition with the 2005 film ''Athadu'', another high grosser in Telugu cinema. In 2006 he starred in ''Pokiri'', premiered at the 7th IIFA Awards held in Dubai. The blockbuster film was subsequently remade into Tamil, Hindi and Kannada. ''Pokiri'' collected a share of 42 crores at the boxoffice. For ''Pokiri'' he received his second ''Filmfare'' award. His performance got praise from the critics. The film was also one of the fourteen southern Indian films to be screened at the ''International Indian Film Academy Awards'' Film festival in 2006. The film won four ''Nandi'' Awards and two ''Filmfare'' Awards. In 2010, he starred in the film ''khaleja'' which was the highest grossing Telugu film in the overseas at the point of the time.
In 2011, he starred in ''Dookudu'', which had the largest worldwide opening for a Telugu film. The film was released to seventy-nine screens in the United States. In the rest of north, east and west India, it opened up in 21 cities. It became the first Telugu film to reach a gross of more than 1 billion at the time, excluding the dubbed versions. Subsequently, the ''Los Angeles Times'' quoted it as "the biggest hit you've never heard of". In 2012, he starred in the film ''Businessman'' which collected a share of 44 crores at the Tollywood boxoffice. For this film He earned a nomination in both ''filmfare'' and ''South Indian International Movie Awards''. In 2013, he starred in the multistarrer film ''Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu'' which was first for tollywood in twenty decades.The film was declared a blockbuster at the boxoffice by collecting a Share of 55 crores at the boxoffice. For this film he has won fourth ''filmfare'' award for best actor and also his second ''South Indian International Movie Awards''.

He earned 26 awards for 28 nominations throughout his career.
In 2015 his film ''Srimanthudu'' collected a gross of 200 crores in its full run. The film was declared as the second highest grossing film in terms of both share and gross at the Tollywood boxoffice.This film was the first Indian movie to have premiere in the ''Chile'' region of ''South America''.
He Is often cited as the King Of Overseas Boxoffice. His films often collect good shares over there.He is the brand ambassador for Several brands and is the highest earning celebrity in South India .
